The Iliad and the Odyssey are considered the greatest works of ancient literature that are the poet Homer's work. The first similarity is the style in which they were written; they were created due to creating one man in a short period. Both pieces are centred around the main characters Odysseus and Achilles. Odysseus appears in both works, as a classic prototype of a traditional Greek hero. Heroism is celebrated in both positions. Dangers are continuously permeated through both pieces.
The Iliad and The Odyssey have the same elements in their structure and shape: each epic poem consists of 24 books and is written in dactylic hexameter with the use of the same literary devices. Their plots also have similar traits: a ring-form composition and numerous divine interventions.
Purpose. According to the nonprofit MyGoodDeed, the purpose of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance is to transform the anniversary of 9/11 from a day of tragedy into a day of doing good.
