Liberalism as an ideology has political and economical regard. These privilege individual autonomy, equal chances for everyone. Liberalism was historically the reaction from the "burgouise" and the mercantilist classes against the state intervention. They were happy to act independently of state legislation to engage in economic exchanges. Later this philosophy incorporated the notions of separation of powers, representative and limited power.
