From the task data
a_1=10 \\ a_2=-80 \\ a_3=640 \\ a_4=-5120.

If these four terms form the geometrical sequence, then each next term is obtained from the previous by multiplying by the same number q.

Let's find q:a_2=a_1\cdot q \Rightarrow q= \frac{a_2}{a_1}= \frac{-80}{10} =-8 (you can easily check that q is also \frac{a_3}{a_2} and \frac{a_4}{a_3} ).

Then then-th term of geometrical sequence may be represented as a_n=a_1q^{n-1}. That's why a_n=10\cdot (-8)^{n-1}.

A recursive rule for the geometric sequence is:
a1=10
an=-8 (an-1)

Solution:

Sequence:
10, -80, 640, -5120

a1=10
a2=-80
a3=640
a4=-5120

a2/a1=(-80)/(10)→a2/a1=-8
a3/a2=(640)/(-80)→a3/a2=-8
a4/a3=(-5120)/(640)→a4/a3=-8

Then:
(an)/(an-1)=-8

Solving for an:
an=(-8)(an-1)
an=-8 (an-1)

Are the following ratios proportional? Explain why or why not. 3 to 8; 7:20
katrin2010 [14]
Nope! If they were proportional, one would be able to be reduced to the other.
It's like the (however clichéd) example of pie slices! If you cut two pies into 8 and 20 pieces, three pieces of the pie sliced into eight pieces will not be the same as seven pieces of the pie sliced into twenty!

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST
spin [16.1K]

Answer:

c = 7

d = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Notice that in the first expression, x^c is inside a square root, and only perfect squares can be extracted from it. On the simplified form shown on the right hand side, we have x^3 outside the root and a single "x" left inside. In order for such to happen (x^3 get outside the root) there must have been an x^6 inside the square root. This together with the sole "x" that was left in the root, totals seven factors of x that should have been originally inside the square root:

x^6 * x = x^7  therefore c was a "7"

In the second expression we have a CUBIC root, so only perfect cubes can get extracted from it. Since there is one factor "x" shown in the simplified form (right hand side of the equal sign), that means that it must have been an x^3 (perfect cube) apart from the x^2 that was left inside the root. This makes the original power of x to be a 3 + 2 = 5.

Therefore d = 5

If the arithmetic mean of the numbers 7, 14, 6, p, 8 and 14 is 10, find p.
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution,

Here

Mean=10

N=6

Efx=7+14+6+p+8+14

=49+p

Now

Mean=Efx/N

or,10=49+p/6 ( Therefore,10 is multiplied to 6)

or,60=49+p

or,p=60-49

p=11
