I WiLL MARK BRAINLESTRead the excerpt from "Tools of the Spymaster." The idea of invisible ink had been around for a long time.

Write using lemon juice as ink, for instance, and the writing will be invisible. Heat the paper, and the writing will appear, looking as if it were written in brown ink. British agents used two types of ink. One could be made visible by holding the paper over the flame of a candle; the other could be read by applying a common chemical. Major John Andre, the chief British intelligence officer in New York, told his agents to put an F in the corner of letters containing invisible ink needing fire to read and A for those needing acid. The author’s main purpose in this excerpt is to A.explain the use of invisible ink during the American Revolution. B.expose unsuccessful spying tactics used by the British during the American Revolution. C.teach readers how to create secret documents using common chemicals. D.tell an interesting story about the British intelligence officer Major John Andre.

Answer: The right answer is the A) Explain the use of invisible ink during the American Revolution.

Explanation: Just to elaborate a little on the answer, it can be added that options C and D should be discarded as invalid, since the excerpt is not meant to teach contemporary readers how to create secret documents using common chemicals and, although it does mention Major Andre and it tells an interesting story about what he did as intelligence officer during the American Revolutionary War, it also provides a brief historical account of the use of invisible ink. In addition, option B is also wrong, since the spying tactics that are mentioned in the excerpt were indeed successful. The excerpt reflects upon the use of invisible ink by British agents, such as Major Andre, during the American Revolution, and the strategies that they employed in order to identify the various types of inks.

sergejj [24]

Answer:

- Question of value.

Explanation:

As per the question, Megan employs a 'question of value' kind of persuasive speech that is inclined towards arguing a specific value to be ethical or unethical, moral or immoral, and determining conclusions accordingly. Such a speech proposes an ethical appeal in order to evoke a judgmental reaction or response from the audience like Megan argues that 'providing similar rights or privileges regardless of the gender, race, sex, etc.' aims to reflect the righteousness of immorality associated with the issue. This ethical argument leads to elicit a morally judgmental response from the audience. Therefore, it exemplifies <u>'question of value'.</u>
