The reader is most likely to determine that the Cyclops is not very intelligent. He mentions he"....<em>saw through this..."</em> and also that "...<em>I answered with ready lie.."</em>The narrator considers he could fool the Cyclops and uses the name of a god , the god of the seas, in order to make his misfortune sound  more significant. He sounds as if he wanted to convince the Cyclops of anything that would give him and his men a chance to escape.

Based on information in the passage, it can be inferred that Kennedy
attashe74 [19]

Based on the passage, the information can be inferred that Kennd]edy defeated Nixon in the 1960 presidential election.

<h3>What is an inference?</h3>

This is known as a conclusion reached on the basis of reasoning or evidence. It is a process of inferring something.

John .F. Kennedy who was a democratic senator was elected president in 1960, defeating vice president Richard Nixon who was clearly the winner in the electoral vote but Kennedy won him with over 118,000 more votes than Nixon in the close election.

Therefore, the passage stated that Kennedy defeated Richard Noxon in the 1960  presidential election.

Hence, the correct answer is option E.
