I'm not sure where this is from, but it sounds like he's almost suggesting he is not alive. I'm unsure if he means figuratively dead or literally dead, but that's what it seems to me. I draw this conclusion because he says he lies by her side, but, of course, she's dead and in a tomb. Not only that, but he says the stars never rise, and he lies by her all night. If he were in a tomb, it would seem like an everlasting night with no light (or stars). Furthermore, by stating that she's his "life" (but obviously not living), then maybe they share their life together in death.
