A bird is flying over a field. What will most likely happen if a toxin causes the
myrzilka [38]

Answer:

B. The bird will stop flying because it will quickly use up its remaining

energy.

Explanation:

This is because the mitochondria is known as the power house of cells. Oxidative phosphorylation takes place in this organelle and it involves the conversion of ADP to ATP through the hydrogen ions(protons).

When the hydrogen ion channel is blocked, energy production in cells stop.

This is why the bird will stop flying as it would have used up its remaining energy and won’t have a new one to use to continue flying.

What happens to the abundance of angiosperm and gymnosperm pollen fossils at the kt boundary?
dimaraw [331]
The KT boundary marks a mass extinction event. the KT boundary is the time between the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods. An asteroid hit the earth at the end of the Cretaceous and that caused the end of the Cretaceous period. Before the KT boundary, pollen from angiosperms and gymnosperms is high. After the meteor hits the earth, a mass extinction occurs and the amount of pollen from gymnosperms and angiosperms decreases dramatically, while the amount of spores from ferns increases. During the Cretaceous period there were many species of gymnosperms and angiosperms but they disappeared at the KT boundary, when the asteroid hit the earth.

Northern flickers are woodpeckers of the eastern United States. Males, but not females, have black feathers that resemble a mous
jek_recluse [69]

Answer:

This suggests that the moustache is a releaser for aggression.

Explanation:

Fixed action patterns are instinctive programmed responses in different species that are triggered by a specific external sensory stimulus. These stimuli are called sign stimuli or releaser. When the sign occurs, the animal starts a sequence of acts in response to the stimulus and continuous until the series of actions is completed.

The black feathers resembling a mustache in a Northern flickers male are an external sensory stimulus. This trait that can provoke another male to respond aggressively, as a fixed action pattern.

This trait might be considered as an unconditioned stimulus, which provokes an unlearned or reflex reaction. These aggressive responses are triggered by reflex.
