Triangle ABC was translated according to the rule (x, y) → (x + 1.5, y – 3.5) to create the image ΔA'B'C' shown on the coordinat

e plane. Which graph shows the pre-image, ΔABC? On a coordinate plane, a triangle has points A prime (negative 1, 2), B prime (1, negative 1), C prime (negative 5, negative 1). On a coordinate plane, a triangle has points A (0.5, negative 1.5), B (0.5, negative 4.5), C (negative 3.5, negative 4.5). On a coordinate plane, a triangle has points A (2.5, 0.5), B (2.5, 2.5), C (negative 1.5, negative 2.5). On a coordinate plane, a triangle has points A (negative 4.5, 3.5), B (negative 4.5, 0.5), C (negative 8.5, 0.5). On a coordinate plane, a triangle has points A (negative 2.5, 5.5), B (negative 2.5, 2.5), C (negative 6.5, 2.5).

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

ΔA'B'C' image.

A (-1,2)

B (-1,-1)

C (-5,-10)

rule of translation(x,y) → (x + 1.5,y - 3.5)

This means that the given coordinates are the the sum of x and the difference of y.

A:

-1 = x + 1.5  →  -x = 1.5 + 1 → -x = 2.5 → -x/-1 = 2.5/-1 → x = -2.5

2 = y - 3.5 → -y = -3.5 - 2 → -y = -5.5 → -y/-1 = -5.5/-1 → y = 5.5

A (-2.5 , 5.5)

B:

-1 =  x + 1.5  →  -x = 1.5 + 1 → -x = 2.5 → -x/-1 = 2.5/-1 → x = -2.5

-1 = y - 3.5 → -y = -3.5 + 1 → -y = -2.5 → -y/-1 = -2.5/-1 → y = 2.5

B (-2.5,2.5)

C:

-5 = x + 1.5 → -x = 1.5 + 5 → -x = 6.5 → -x/-1 = 6.5/-1 → x = -6.5

-10 = y - 3.5 → -y = -3.5 + 10 → -y = 6.5 → -y/-1 = 6.5/-1 → y = -6.5

C (-6.5, -6.5)

The pre image will have the following coordinates:

A (-2.5 , 5.5) ; B (-2.5,2.5) ; C (-6.5, -6.5)

A fair die with sides numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 is to be rolled until a number greater than 4 first appears. what is the pro
AnnyKZ [126]
First two rolls have to be 1-4 that is 2/3 chance twice and the third can be 4or 5
2/3*2/3*1/3 + the chance that the fourth is the 5 or 6.
2/3*2/3*2/3*1/3

So the solution is : P=2/3*2/3*1/3 + 2/3*2/3*2/3*1/3

Use the points A(4, 4) and B(4, −5). Complete the description of segment AB and find its length.
Svet_ta [14]

Use the points A(4, 4) and B(4, −5)

(1) (a) From two points , we will get a vertical line when 'x' values are same and horizontal line segment when 'y' values are same

Here in A(4, 4) and B(4, −5) , the x values are same so the segment AB is a Vertical . The length is the difference between y values ( 4 -(-5)) = 9

Segment AB is a Vertical segment that is 9 units long.

(2) Describe the image of segment AB under the transformation

(x, y) ----> (x, 2y)

A(4, 4) -----> (4, 8)

and B(4, −5) ---> (4, -10)

'x' values are same so line AB is Vertical. The length is the difference between y values ( 8 -(-10)) = 18

The image of segment AB is a Vertical segment that is 18 units long.

(3) Describe the image of segment AB under the transformation

(x, y) ----> (x + 2, y)

A(4, 4) -----> (6, 4)

and B(4, −5) ---> (6, -5)

'x' values are same so line AB is Vertical. The length is the difference between y values ( 4 -(-5)) = 9

The image of AB is a Vertical segment 2 units to the right of the original segment that is 9 units long.
