cologne (for men) known in europe as eau de toilette is a concentrated form of men's fragrance. blend of natural essential oils, aroma chemicals, fixatives, and denatured ethyl alcohol which acts as the carrier. eau de cologne 50-75 proof alcohol to a concentration of 2 to 5 percent perfume oil

cologne (for women) lightest form of fragrance was introduced in cologne, germany in the 17th century --eau de cologne, meaning water of cologne. it is a citrus fragrance combined with lavender notes

in a sentence: his cologne smelt very nice.

in a (better) sentence: the smell of bad cologne is so potent in the men's bathroom, i prefer to go outside for some fresh air
