My response is no. People who are in a life-or-death situation are desperate, and in desperate times comes desperate measures. For example, say you were on the edge of being killed. You find something to defend yourself with, and knock the person out. You shouldn't be held accountable for that, because if you wouldn't have did it you may have not survived. Also in a life-or-death situation your brain is not working properly because you are in a very stressful situation. Since your brain is in panic mode you do things you wouldn't normally do if you were calm, and had time to think about your actions. Finally, people should not be held accountable for their actions in a life-or-death situation because their life is on the line. The person should be able to do what they need to ensure their survival.
