Colonization and causes of the revolutionary war
Alchen [17]
Causes of the Revolutionary War

The American people were strongly independent. They wanted to do things for themselves. Great Britain was a long way away. The American people didn't want people an ocean away telling them how to live their lives.
The British government decided to make the American colonies pay a large share of the war debt from the French and Indian War.
Through the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, and other taxes, the British tried to collect taxes that the American people considered harsh.
The American people also thought that they should be able to send their own people to Britain's Parliament or at least vote for Britain's lawmakers.
The combination of the harsh taxes and the lack of an American voice in Parliament gave rise to the famous phrase "taxation without representation."
Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine, and others called for an independent America, colonies free from British rule and interference.
Americans started stockpiling guns and ammunition in violation of British laws. Their defense of such a stockpile led to the shots fired at Lexington and Concord and the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

1. Why were the northern Italian city states so wealthy during the Renaissance?
Svetlanka [38]

During the period of the Renaissance, Italy was divided into numerous small city-states controlled by local wealthy people. There were large differences though from one city-state to another, and while the northern ones were very wealthy and had things going very smoothly, the southern ones were much less successful.

The reason why the northern Italian city-states were so wealthy was mostly the trade. These city-states had excellent large ports. They were producing multiple things that were in high demand and also very well paid for for export, and were getting lot of things they needed and desired from the other parts of the world.

These states had very well developed fleets, and they were trading with multiple Asian regions, Europe, as well as parts of Africa. They were exporting their high quality products. Very often they were buying certain things from one place, then re-sell it in other place buy much higher prices, thus getting more and more wealth over time. That wealth enabled them to get all they needed without any problem, thus making them very stable and strong small states.
