New England settlers used the local resources such as fish and timber, setting up shipbuilding industries. Settlers in the Middle Colonies grew large amounts of grain on large farming lands. The Southern Colonies adopted the plantation economy to grow cash crops favorable to the Southern weather.

Without the free press, politicians could make legislation which would not be beneficial for the citizens even without the awareness of the citizens.

But the freeedom of press need to be accompanied with accountability to ensure that the press do not intentionally created a biased point of view when presenting their piece.

The trade led to the urbanization and development of big towns that were connecting different trade routes. The trade routes involved North Africa, Sahara, and Europe and it lasted for centuries. More urbanization led to even the first university being built in Timbuktu in Mali.
