I think it's the culture/genes they were brought/born into. Because it can be genetically made into your DNA or you might be raised in that certain household/culture that you're used to.
technically an article is an adjective which is any word used to modify a noun usually adjectives modify nouns through description but articles are used to point out or refer to nouns( I think)
