European colonial powers limited economic opportunities for Africans in the early 20th century by preventing African farmers from growing certain crops themselves. European settlers and inverstors did everything they could to gain control over land and make Africans sell their labour to European farmers.
Women can vote now and work in areas that before where considered only for men. African-Americans can now go to same schools as white people and eat at the same restaurants
