The Pacific tectonic plate is one of the largest in the world. It is an oceanic plate, with only small amount of its territory being occupied by continental crust through the island chains. This tectonic plate is surrounded by continental tectonic plates with which its collides. Since the Pacific plate is denser and heavier, it is subducting under some of the other plates, thus becoming smaller and smaller, and if the plates continue to move as they are, the Pacific plate will be becoming smaller and smaller, and eventually will totally disappear.
