The presidential campaign formally opens when a candidate is officially nominated at the National convention. thereafter, the candidate can call out press conferences, conventions to call out his platforms for everyone to know his intentions about the country. The republic allows all legible voters to vote their own cadidate of choice.

In my research I have found that the answer is D, here's why.

Sectionalism is to pay more attention to the politics in the area local to where you reside rather than paying attention to politics on a federal level (unless of course you live in the country capital.) Federalism is the exact opposite.
