The British army led by Cornwallis faced defeat in  the battle of Yorktown.

<u>Explanation:</u>

Yorktown was the last battle place in the American Revolutionary War. The British troops led by Cornwallis finally surrendered in the Battle of Yorktown. The Continental Army was under the control of Nathaniel Greene and they applied several brilliant war tactics.

When the British troops retreated to Yorktown George Washington led his army down from the North. By this time the French navy also moved to the coast near Yorktown after defeating the British navy.  After eleven days of war the British troops finally surrendered by accepting the terms of George Washington.

It would be beneficial because more people would vote. There are numerous elections and the turnout is usually small so fewer people decide since others are apathetic or don't care about the local elections. With fewer elections it would be a bigger thing and more people would go out and vote which is important because it represents the will of the people.
