Which of the following explains why language can be called arbitrary? Select all that apply.
docker41 [41]

Answer:

Language can be called arbitrary because, Words do not inherently resemble the objects that they represent and The word chair does not resemble the object it represents.

Explanation:

Languages are Arbitrary means that there is no relationship between the words that we use and the natural meaning of that particular word.

Words do not inherently resemble the objects that they represent. There are certain words which might be meaningless to some, but those are the exact words which are understood by many. Say for example, the word ‘chair’ doesn’t necessarily resemble the object it represents. It doesn’t tell us anything about what exactly the kind or type of object it is referring to.

2. What are some rules for an effective book review?

PLEASE HELP FAST!!!!
MrRa [10]

A good book review will:

 • Point out strengths and weaknesses in the book
 • Looks at what the author intended to do and whether or not he did it
 • Be between 50 and 1,500 words

The following is a guide to writing a book review; but, you need to know that they are just suggestions to think about.

 • Write down a summary of essential information, like title, author, copyright date, kind of book, price, subject matter of the book, and special features.
 • State the reason the author wrote the book.
 • Consider from what point of view the book was written.
 • Decide what the author was trying to accomplish.
 • Determine what kind of book is it, and who is the intended audience.
 • Discuss the author's style of writing and look at his cohesion, clarity, flow of the text, and use of precise words.
 • Think about how you were affected by the book and if any of your opinions or feelings change because of it.
 • Decide if the book met its goal and whether or not you would recommend it to others and why.
 • State the main topic of the book and the author's treatment of it. Also explain the development of the thesis, using quotes or references.
 • Discuss the author's descriptions and narration, pointing out whether he explained facts or tried to persuade the readers of the validity of an issue.
 • Analyze whether or not the book suited its intended audience and if it was interesting and thorough.
 • You may challenge his opinions and explain why you disagree with them. Include any information about the author that would establish his authority or that would be relevant to the review.

What is the best definition of speculation, which was a cause of the Great Depression?
Ivanshal [37]

Answer: cause of the great depression.

Explanation:

The Great Depression began after the stock market impact of October 1929, which made Wall Street panic and lost millions of investors. In several years, buyers spending and investment lowered, causing declines in industrial out take and employing as failing companies fired workers.

I took this from google because I forgot about The Great Depression, But I reworded it so it isnt plagarized. You can do some more rewording if you want.

Which sentence has a subject-verb agreement error? A) A man in a strange cloak and hat is walking on our back porch tonight! B)
balu736 [363]
The answer would be B) One of my sister's friends that she made in her college sorority are a doctor.

The subject-verb error occurs in the words made and are. Made indicates a past-tense event, while are indicates the present-tense. To fix the sentence, you could change are to is.

One of my sister's friends that she made in her college sorority is a doctor.
