Why did farmers in the 1780's struggle so much? (revolutionary war)

History

Explanation:

Trade routes to market were cut off by war, either water ways or roads. Farmers could not plant surpluses because they might not be able to sell the excess and it would just rot on their fields. Herds of cattle and horses were depleted either by the plundering of the British or as provisions for the Continental Army.

The farmers who fought in the Revolutionary War had received little compensation, and by the 1780s many were struggling to make ends meet.
Businesses in Boston and elsewhere demanded immediate payment for goods that farmers had previously bought on credit and often paid off through barter. There was no paper money in circulation and no gold or silver to be accessed by the farmers to settle these debts.
At the same time, Massachusetts residents were expected to pay higher taxes than they had ever paid to the British in order to assure that Governor James Bowdoin’s business associates would receive a good return on their investments.
With no means to move their crops and make money to pay off debts and taxes, Boston authorities began to arrest the farmers and foreclose on their farms.

Why does King Polydectes ask Perseus to bring him the head of Medusa? He thinks having it will protect his kingdom from Zeus. He
poizon [28]

Answer:

He hopes asking for it will cause Perseus to leave his mother behind.

Explanation:

King Polydectes asks Perseus to bring him the head of Medusa because "he hopes to ask for it will cause Perseus to leave his mother behind."

This is evident in the fact that King Polydectes believed that Perseus would leave his mother (Danae) behind, and later die in his pursuit of getting the head of Medusa. Thereby, he would be able to have the perfect opportunity to marry Danae without interference.

: Describe the two major battles of 1863 that did the most to demoralize the South.
grigory [225]
Vicksburg AssaultsMay 19 and 22, 1863-Two dramatic assaults occurred against the works surrounding Vicksburg, Mississippi, the key bastion that prevented Union naval supremacy of the Mississippi River. The two attacks cost the Union army 4,100 casualties and no ground gained. However, in the end, extended siege forced the garrison to surrender. On Independence Day, Major General Ulysses Grant seized the city and paroled its starving defenders.

ChancellorsvilleMay 1-3, 1863-Fought in Virginia, this battle was the third bloodiest battle of the war. Although it was a stunning Confederate success, the Army of Northern Virginia lost 22 percent of its force and one of its ablest generals, “Stonewall” Jackson, who had been accidentally shot by his own men on May 2.
