The author uses physical descriptions, private and shared thoughts, the behavior of the character, and also uses the conversations to define the character. This characterization is reflected in the text when the narrator says <em>"But I stayed good friends with the boy who had been wounded his first day at the front, because he would never know now how he would have turned out; so he could never be accepted either, and I liked him because I thought perhaps he would not have turned out to be a hawk either."</em>
In "In Another Country? "The narrator is part of the characters that participate in the story, in the previous excerpt we see that the author uses characterization of the narrator through his memories, the feelings he had with others and his hopes. Further in the story will be given more details that helps us finish characterizing the narrator as an American soldier (p.2, l.35) who is not married (p.3, l.21-22) and who enjoys playing soccer with his friends.

Oedipus the King is a fabulous play, thought to be first played somewhere between<em> 430 - 426 BCE,</em> it is a famous classic tragedy by <em>Sophocles</em>. Oedipus the King is also known as <em>Oedipus Rex</em>, where<em> 'Rex' </em>stands for<em> 'King'</em> in latin.
In this tragedy, there is a point in the second chapter where Oedipus, the king of Thebes has a visit from an old soothsayer. Teiresias is the name of this old soothsayer, who is consulted regarding the plagues that torments the city of Thebes. Oedipus makes fun of Teiresias claims, and he replies that even though he can see, he still remains 'blind' to the truth.
Later on, King Oedipus loses his sight, and becomes blind. Here is where the irony becomes evident, because now King Oedipus realizes what the blind man was trying to say, and that the blind man was the one who truly saw the truth. This is an example of dramatic irony.
