The government took control of the industrial power of the US and made many business produce material for the war. The role of government changed to where they had much more control over the economy and the major corporations which they previously had little control over, especially in the beginning of the 1900’s where it seemed they had no control.
There was more tension between free and slave states and the Southerners feared for their safety after the raid.
