The period in the history of the supreme court when Earl Warren served as the Chief Justice of the supreme court is known as the Warren Period. He replaced Fred M Vinson and retired in 1969 after staying in the office for 15 years. The warren court is known for expanding judicial and federal power, civil rights and civil liberties. The court was both praised criticized for ending the prayers in the public schools and ending the racial segregation. The Warren period was the highest point of judicial power in the United States

 Often the only skills a freed slave had was in farming and even then they usually only knew how to do the manual labor, not the actual running of a farm.
