Alfred Wegener was the scientist that came up with the idea that Earth's continents are not static but that they move slowly. While he came up to a lot of resistance and ridicule when he first proposed this, he did not give up, instead, he continued in his mission to prove his theory and managed to find numerous pieces of evidence to support it.

Some of the evidence that Wegener found were the mathcing continental margins, matching mountain chains in different continents, fossils, mid-ocean ridges, etc. When he managed to come out with all of the evidence the scientists that previously thought that he is crazy were shocked and saw that they were the ones that were wrong all the time. Quickly, this theory was accepted, and more and more evidence was obtained to support it, so the world finally knew that the continents are moving slowly, and that they were one big landmass in the distant past and that there are high chances that something like that will happen in the future as well.
