Determine the general wave and longshore sediment transport directions by determiing where the sand is:_____
Studentka2010 [4]

Determine the general wave and longshore sediment transport directions by determiing where the sand is against where it is eroding, is heaping up.

from the top to the bottom

- The direction of beach drift

- Groyne

- The incoming wave direction

-The direction of the longshore current

What is longshore sediment transport?

 • The collective movement of beach and nearshore sand parallel to the shore caused by the combined action of tides, wind, and waves, as well as the shore-parallel currents produced by them, is referred to as longshore transport.
 • Usually, these forces cause sand to move practically continuously, either in bedload flows or suspension.
 • This happens in an intricate, three-dimensional pattern that changes quickly over time.
 • Sand in the area of interest may occasionally have an upcoast component whereas other sand is often migrating downcoast.

What would be the advantage of locating stomata on the underside of a leaf be for the plant? (Hint: sunlight and the effect of t
makkiz [27]

Explanation:

1. Stomata are the openings on the leaf for the exchange of the water and air from the plant to the environment. It actually helps plants to breath, so it can also be seen as nostrills of the plants. They are present on either side of the leaves. Opening a stomata is like opening the doors for the exchange of the gases . This comes at a cost.

Due to sunlight and heat from the environment water content of the leaf is also remarkably lost when stomata opens, which is protected otherwise due to outer waxy layer of the leaf. To reduce this, most of the stomata are present on the lower surface of the leaves, as it will reduce the possibility of water loss due to high sunlight during the afternoon.

2. In aquatic plants you can find most of the stomata present on the upper surface of the leaf. As the plants float on the water surface, its lower epidermis is stuck to the water, hence respiration is least likely there as there is no contact of the stomata with the air.

Question 1 Which of the following contains the largest percentage of the Earth's water? oceans, vegetation, ice \snow, atmospher
Mrac [35]

Answer:

The oceans contain the largest percentage of Earth's water.

Explanation:

Water is one of the most important, if not the most important, ingredient for life on Earth. It is found in abundance on our planet, though it differs in its characteristics from place to place. It can be found anywhere from the oceans, rivers, atmosphere, vegetation, animals, in the ground, as ice, etc. The distribution of it is not equal at all of these mediums where it can be found though.

The vast majority of water is found in Earth's oceans. The oceans contain such a high amount of water that all of the other places/mediums combined have much less. The water in the oceans is saline though, thus it is not water that can be used for drinking except if it is desalinated. Nevertheless, this water has been the one where life emerged on our planet, it influences the conditions in all of the world, and it is still the one that has the most life in it by far.
