The Austin brothers soon incurred debts, causing the collapse of the company. After the Virginia lead business failed, Moses skipped out to avoid imprisonment and the consequences of debt, which was then customary for debtors in the U.S. Basically he left to avoid prisionment.

The way that Lincoln and Douglas view, disagreement and facts about slavery is that Lincoln views them that they don’t have the ability to accept or cope up with the moral standards which was opposite of Douglas thinks. He also views them that they are also avaricious which Douglas didn't thought of. While Douglas in the other hand, has the belief that the people’s choice and having the thought of people who are slaves can back down the movement of the system of labor.

The average holding varied between four and six slaves, and at the peak of slavery in the US slaves occupied more than 20% of the population. If slaves were to get fed up with their horrible situation they might be able to overpower their masters and begin freeing slaves from other plantations. These fears were further amplified by the Hattian Rebellion in 1791 in which the local slaves brutally killed 75,000 French citizens, gaining their freedom in the process. Many in the United States feared that a similar situation would unfold if their slaves rebelled en masse.
