If someone collapses in front of you and you are trained in first aid you will need to "take the initiative to put your knowledge of first aid to the test" or the first option because that's the reason why you learned first aid in the first place. If you put your knowledge in action you could save someones life and you can create more time for the professionals to come and take that person if your first aid doesn't work.
