The environment in which humans live in determine their behavior. Humans tend to seek out things that contributes to their desire for safety and security. For example, hospitals are filled with bright lights and are organized in a clean way. Patients and visitors will feel safe and calm. Certain environments can also make humans feel stressed or agitated. For example, a crowded hallway at school or a deserted street at night will make the people in those environments nervous and agitated. Some environments will cause distress in humans. For example, a child growing up in an abusive environment will feel distressed when they sense even a slight act of violence.
