The number of students in vans and bus are (8,22)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of students in the van be “x”

Let the number of students in the bus be “y”

It is given that each bus and van have same number of students.

For college A-

8 vans and 8 bus were rented to ferry 240 students

No of students in 8 bus= 8y (since y students were in each bus)

No of students in 8 van= 8x (since x students were in each van)

Hence 8x+8y=240 cancelling the equation with common factor 8, the equation becomes    ⇒ x+ y=30

For College B

4 vans and 1 bus were rented to ferry 54 students

No of students in 1 bus= 1y (since y students were in each bus)

No of students in 4 van= 4x (since x students were in each van)

4x+y=54

Comparing the both equation we get and subtracting equation 2 from 1

x+y-30-4x-y-54=0  ∵ Cancelling y

-3x=-24

∴ x=8 putting the value of x in equation 1 we get y as 22

Thus the answer is (8,22)

Answer:

y = -0.2x + 3.8

Step-by-step explanation:

it states it has been 7 weeks. 0.2 x 7 is 1.4. That means they started with 2.4 + 1.4 meters thick of ice sheet, which is 3.8, which is the number they started with. So, b = 3.8 and it says it melts 0.2 so it's a negative, which is -0.2 as slope. So, y = -0.2x + 3.8

Ainat [17]

Equation of y, the population size after x hours is y = 1000 (1.15)ˣ

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Firstly , let us learn about types of sequence in mathematics.

Arithmetic Progression is a sequence of numbers in which each of adjacent numbers have a constant difference.

\boxed{T_n = a + (n-1)d}

\boxed{S_n = \frac{1}{2}n ( 2a + (n-1)d )}

<em>Tn = n-th term of the sequence</em>

<em>Sn = sum of the first n numbers of the sequence</em>

<em>a = the initial term of the sequence</em>

<em>d = common difference between adjacent numbers</em>

<em />

Geometric Progression is a sequence of numbers in which each of adjacent numbers have a constant ration.

\boxed{T_n = a ~ r^{n-1}}

\boxed{S_n = \frac{a( 1 - r^n ) }{1 - r}}

<em>Tn = n-th term of the sequence</em>

<em>Sn = sum of the first n numbers of the sequence</em>

<em>a = the initial term of the sequence</em>

<em>r = common ratio between adjacent numbers</em>

Let us now tackle the problem!

Let :

Initial number of population = a

After 5 hours → Population = y = a × 2 = 2000

2a = 2000

a = 2000 ÷ 2

a = 1000

After 10 hours → Population = y = a × 2 × 2 = a × 2² = 1000 × 2²

After 15 hours → Population = y = a × 2 × 2 × 2 = a × 2³ = 1000 × 2³

After x hours ↓

Population = y = 1000 \times 2^{\frac{x}{5}}

Population = y = 1000 \times (2^{\frac{1}{5}})^x

Population = y = \large{ \boxed {1000 \times (1.15)^x} }

Let's prove the equation above :

After 5 hours :

Population = y = 1000 \times (1.15)^5 = 2011 ≈ 2000 ✔

After 10 hours :

Population = y = 1000 \times (1.15)^{10} = 4046 ≈ 4000 ✔

After 15 hours :

Population = y = 1000 \times (1.15)^{15} = 8137 ≈ 8000 ✔

s2008m [1.1K]
Perimeter = 2*(length +width)
perimeter = 2*(3x + (3x +(2x+6)))

perimeter = 16x +12

If x=3, the perimeter is 16*3 +12 = 60 inches.
