In Sparta, males had to train for the military and were sent into the wilderness as a test to see if he is strong. Females had to work out a lot so that they could produce strong babies. Sparta was mostly about military strength.

Meanwhile, people in Athens were more influential in politics. Athens made the government type known as democracy and was named after the Greek god Athena, the god of wisdom and warfare. Democracy is a very important type of government because that is the government the USA uses today.

The English bill of rights is prohibiting cruel and unusual punishment, as well as excessive bail. When the government wanted to keep someone in jail illegally they would declare a huge amount of money for bail which could not be paid. This would give off the illusion that the person could walk out on bail but in reality it was done on purpose to prevent them. Also, cruel and unusual punishment such as torture or similar was common so the bill of rights outlawed it.
