Who were the initiators for the book burnings in Germany and what was their motivation?

English
1 answer:
horsena [70]3 years ago
8 0

Answer:

Explanation:

It was the college students and teachers that led the movement of the book burning. The German Student Union with the support and encouragement of their professors organized the first book burnings in 1933.

Lists were made of books that were considered to be subversive to the political correctness of Nazism. Books by Jews, liberals, socialists, evangelical Christians, were targeted. The first books to be burned were by Karl Marx and Albert Einstein. American author Hemingway was targeted as being too pacifistic.

Burning books was a method of enforcing politically correct thought in the 1933. It can be argued that there is a danger of the present climate of political correctness on today's college climate becoming similar to the actions of college students in Nazi Germany.

Some stuff about the Euphrates Rivers
sergij07 [2.7K]

Answer:

The Euphrates is the longest and one of the most historically important rivers of Western Asia. Together with the Tigris, it is one of the two defining rivers of Mesopotamia.

Explanation:

The Euphrates is important solely for its water supply. The river is the source of political tension, as Turkey, Syria and Iraq all compete for the use of its waters for irrigation and the generation of hydroelectric power. For centuries the river formed the east limit of Roman control. “There is no water!” The Euphrates is drying up. Strangled by the water policies of Iraq's neighbors, Turkey and Syria; a two-year drought; and years of misuse by Iraq and its farmers, the river is significantly smaller than it was just a few years ago. Some officials worry that it could soon be half of what it is now.
