Answer:

The perimeter of the spiral notebook is 14 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

The given parameters are;

The area of the rectangular binder cover, Aₓ = 80 in²

The area of the rectangular binder cover = 8 × The area of the spiral notebook, Aₙ

The length, l of the spiral notebook = 5 inches

Let w represent the width of the spiral notebook cover;

We have;

Aₙ = l × w = 5 × w

Aₓ = 80 = 8 × Aₙ

8 × Aₙ = 80

∴ 8 × 5 × w = 80

w = 80/(8 × 5) = 80/40 = 2

w - 2 inches

The perimeter, P, of a rectangle = 2 × length, l + 2 × width, w

∴ For the spiral notebook, we have, P_{Spiral \ notebook}  = 2 × 5 + 2 × 2 = 14

The perimeter of the spiral notebook, P_{Spiral \ notebook} = 14 inches.

Helen bought a coat at a 20% off sale and saved $12. what was the original price of the coat?
miskamm [114]
If you decrease a price by 20% you multiply the original cost by 0.8
So, if y times 0.8 = $12, then you do y=12/0.8 which is 15.
The original cost is $15.
