The study began as far back as the 1930s, John Bowlby was a physciatrist in a child care located near london. His job originally led Bowlby to evaluate the importance of a child’s relationship with their mother in terms of their social, emotional and cognitive development.  Specifically, it shaped his belief about the link between early infant separations with the mother and later maladjustment.
