Students in 7th grade are expected to express feelings, opinions, and facts in written form. Many states have a writing assessment at the end of the year to test their skills. Students will delve into literature and civics and may be required to do research projects dealing with these subjects. Seventh grade is hard because kids are so insecure and their peers are lashing out from their own hurt. Tweens this age need compassion and empathy on their terms. I got through seventh grade, but it took a lot of effort. Middle school students are motivated by knowing that they have a choice. Always be prepared for class with a binder, notebook, pencil/pen, workbook, etc. Always take notes when told to, or even when you feel the need to. Homework is a really big priority.
