It is my opinion that the Great Depression received its name from historians in the past who were referring to a drooping economy at the time of its occurrence. In example, there are many instances in which presidents adopted the phrase "The Great Depression" during periods of economic turmoil that had previously been referred to as "panics" or "crises."
