A popular symbolism painting is “Jupiter and Semele” by Gustave Moreau, made in 1895. This painting symbolizes the popular myth of Jupiter and Semele’s love for one another. It shows dark and rich colors, pops of color and contrasts. You probably wouldn’t understand the message when looking directly at this particular painting, but one thing is clear. The darkness it symbolizes. The dark colors of blue and hues of red are a clear sign of anger, sadness, despair, and war. Which is actually what is happening here.
