Examine the 1960’s election map. Why would Nixon have won the election if he had won Illinois and Texas?

Nixon would have won the 1960 election if he had won Illinois & Texas because Illinois has 27 electoral college votes, Texas had 24. If both states had been won by Nixon, his total would have been 270. Kennedy would have only had 252 votes. Not enough to win.
