Divide number 60 into three parts in a ratio of 2:3:5.
stiks02 [169]

Answer:

The three parts are 12,18 and 30

Explanation:

Let

x ----> the first part

y ----> the second part

z ----> the third part

we know that

x+y+z=60 -----> equation A

\frac{x}{y}=\frac{2}{3}

x=\frac{2}{3}y -----> equation B

\frac{y}{z}=\frac{3}{5}

z=\frac{5}{3}y ----> equation C

substitute the equation B and the equation C in equation A and solve for y

\frac{2}{3}y+y+\frac{5}{3}y=60

\frac{10}{3}y=60

y=60(3)/10

y=18

<em>Find the value of x</em>

x=\frac{2}{3}(18)=12

<em>Find the value of z</em>

z=\frac{5}{3}(18)=30

therefore

The three parts are 12,18 and 30
