arlik [135]

Answer:

B. nationalism.

Explanation:

The nationalism that originated in the times of the French Revolution changed over the years. By the beginning of the 20th century, most European peoples identified with a nation state and were willing to defend or go for interests of a homeland.

The nationalism fueled competition over economic, social aspects, and was best explained by the rivarly between the French and the Germans.

Prussian -French war caused the tensions to increase among the former.

The rivalry was also felt between the English and the Germans over the seas. The increased trade and foreign trade also was a important force that brought tensions in other continents.

The concept of Nationalism emerged to the most, in the military propagandas, and the racial and ethnic policies from the Central `powers.

<em>A fierce state of things promoted a national army in  numbers that were unprecedent to the times- and the war effort ultimately was propeled by nationalistic groups that prevailed among societies.</em>

The best answer is Mrs. Crater claims that she would not give her daughter away for anything, when in fact she gives her away for nothing at all.

Explanation

If you talk about the irony of a situation, you mean that it is odd or amusing because it involves a contrast. So when Mr. Crater says <em>"I wouldn’t give her up for nothing on earth"</em>, she doesn't mean it because she even pays Mr. Shiftlet to marry her daughter.

The other answers does not demonstrate the true irony of the excerpt:

  1. Mrs. Crater asserts that Lucynell can sweep, cook, feed the chickens, and h o. but the girl also is very smart: This can be considered ironic but it is not the irony of the whole excerpt.
  2. Mrs. Crater is describing all of her daughter’s strengths to Mr. Shiftlet in the hopes that he will marry Lucynell: This is not an irony.
  3. Crater says she values her daughter more than anything in the world, but then she gives her away for a car: This is not true.

Did the Spanish Help or Hurt?
lukranit [14]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached we can say the following.

Did the Spanish Help or Hurt?

Well, it all depends on the perspective.

From the European perspective, the Spanish helped by evangelizing the Native Indians into the Catholic church principles and in offering education because the Spaniards considered the Indians as ignorant, primitive people.

On the other hand, in the Mexican and Latin American perspectives, the Spanish hurt so much.

The Spaniards were fortunate in the act that the Aztecas believed they were their gods coming back to fulfill the prophecies, and because of that the Aztecs welcomed them with an open hand and open doors.

The Spaniards were greedy people that only ambitioned richness for them and the Spanish crown, and they did what they knew best, kill and conquer.

The Spanish conquered Mesoamerica and instilled New Spain More than helping the Indians what the Spanish really wanted was to exploit the many raw materials and natural resources of the Americas. And exploit they did. They also tried to disappear the culture, traditions, beliefs, and religion of the Indians. Furthermore, they brought European diseases that almost wipe out 80n% of the Indian population. Diseases such as chickenpox, smallpox, malaria, influenza, and cholera.

So we could say they hurt more than what they helped.
