Ben on the other hand lives in NY, and believes that the universe is out to get him, and that he has bad luck with all of that. He doesn't believe in fate. For example: main characters are always dynamic as their purpose is to experience some sort of life changing event. Character development is happening and the character is growing.

A static character can be compared to a a secondary character, usually someone who helps the main character achieve previously mentioned life changing event or growth.
