I usually use dictionaries and online searches to help me understand difficult words and concepts in texts. Sometimes I find the glossary at the end of the book useful too. According to the resource I read, I should break up the text into smaller sections that are easy to manage. That will help me understand the structure and the different ideas being discussed in the text. The resource also suggested underlining or circling definitions, repeated ideas, key names and places, and the main idea in a text.
