Hello. This question is incomplete. The full question is:

Read the poem. Then, answer the question(s). From "Broken Windows" An old willow with hollow branches Slowly swayed his few high bright tendrils And sang: "Love is a young green willow Shimmering at the bare wood's edge." Which theme does this poem best support? A. Those who are old know nothing of love. B. Love must be nurtured in order to grow. C. Love is best experienced by the young. D. Those who are immature do not appreciate love.

Answer:

B. Love must be nurtured in order to grow.

Explanation:

The old willow is rambling on love, when he says that love is like a young willow, we can interpret that he is saying that love, like the young willow must be fed, nourished and cultivated in order to grow. This is because a young willow will never grow and last without elements that strengthen it, that feed it and without it it will die still young, without showing all its beauty and grandeur.

Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass- How does Frederick Douglass dismantle the master’s house using the master’s tools?
xz_007 [3.2K]

Answer:

By learning how to read and write

Explanation:

One way that Frederick Douglass dismantles his master’s house was through learning how to read and write. Even though this is an expression and he did not physically dismantle his master’s house, Frederick Douglass “dismantled” it because since he knew how to read and write, he had new ideas and was more aware of what was happening around the world. He found out what he can actually do with that new ability and he tried to break free from his master’s control and captivity. He used learning to read and write to his advantage. He read so many books and learned many new things, and he even shared it to his fellow slaves that could not read or write so they could be aware of what Fredrick Douglass learned and that brought up new ideas. Since they had new ideas that have been learned from learning how to read and write, they started in a way rebelling more and questioning why they were like that while in other parts people were not like this. In the future that caused a couple fights and rebellion and they ended up “dismantling the master’s house” because they ended up getting their freedom and they were not in captivity anymore.

Read the excerpt from "Ellis Island.”
motikmotik

Answer:

A. Immigrants were diagnosed with a disease.

Explanation:

In this passage, we learn that immigrants were held at Ellis Island while they were physically examined. If the doctors found a person had a communicable disease, they were hospitalized in the island. This means that the immediate cause of hospitalization was being diagnosed with a disease. This was most likely a measure that fulfilled two purposes. On the one hand, it provided treatment to sick people. On the other hand, it tried to prevent the spread of contagious diseases to the population at large.
