A) Maurice claimed that he loved the big table in the dining room where every one of them sat and spoke and ate together. Maurice amazed Laura with his choice because he had been quite cynical only months earlier about whether or not he'll have a grown-ups life.

B) It is clear to see from the paragraph that Maurice values family and close-knit relationships. He has a good family-time affinity and has a positive outlook on life now.
