I would say that the main characteristic of Panamanian homes in Santa Fe is that they are small.
If you take a look at the picture I've attached below, you will see what I'm talking about. There is usually just one or perhaps two rooms there, the houses are very small and cramped, and there isn't much space to move around. There is usually a small porch in front of the house, however.
