- China has a really strong influence on US economy.

- Current presidency has lack of interest in acting as mediators for foreign conflicts.

Explanation:

As the largest democratic country in the world, United States supposed to take Taiwan's side during their effort to break free from China's influence. But, situations like this are more complicated than it look.

Currently, China owned around $1,3 Trillion worth of Government Bonds from United States. This means that they have a really strong influence in our economy. Not to mention the companies in United States whose income are depended from the consumers in China.

Beside the economic factors, Trump's presidency also show a lot of reluctances to assume the role as the world's leader in conflict mediation. His reasons were remain unclear, but the impact is definitely felt by the struggling citizens of Taiwan.
