For instance An analogy is like comparing an apple and an orange to describe the difference in colors. I have just used a analogy to describe an analogy. Antonym, this word is a mid 19th century word from the french and Greek languages. Ant meaning against and onuma meaning name. An antonym is a word that is the opposite meaning of another word. For instance Sad is the antonym of happy, since its meaning is the exact opposite. Synonym derives from late middle English by Latin and Greek. The different parts of the word are derived from the Greek alphabet onuma meaning name and sun meaning with. A synonym itself is a word  or phrase that just means the same or so close to the same as another word and or phrase that it doesn't really matter.
