Read this excerpt from Chapter 1 from Twenty Years at Hull House, in which the author shares many memories of the way her father

influenced her life, and answer the question.
...I imagined that the strangers were filled with admiration for this dignified person, and I prayed with all my heart that the ugly, pigeon-toed little girl, whose crooked back obliged her to walk with her head held very much upon one side, would never be pointed out to these visitors as the daughter of this fine man. In order to lessen the possibility of a connection being made, on these particular Sundays I did not walk beside my father, although this walk was the great event of the week, but attached myself firmly to the side of my Uncle James Addams, in the hope that I should be mistaken for his child, or at least that I should not remain so conspicuously unattached that troublesome questions might identify an Ugly Duckling with her imposing parent.

How do Addams’s childhood feelings help reveal her eventual choice of vocation as the creator of Hull House?

Because she viewed herself as an outsider, she became more sympathetic to others.
Since her uncle enjoyed her company, she didn’t worry about what society might think.
She learned to understand that physical beauty wasn’t as important as being a good person.
Her strong and accepting family was the foundation for her adult goals and work.

Answer:

She learned to understand that physical beauty wasn’t as important as being a good person.

Explanation:

According to the given excerpt from Chapter 1 from Twenty Years at Hull House, the author shares many memories of the way her father influenced her life and how she felt like an outcast as she was an "ugly duckling" and felt awkward standing or walking together with her father who was a "fine man" because of how contrasting they were and the embarrassing questions people would ask.

Therefore, Addams’s childhood feelings help reveal her eventual choice of vocation as the creator of Hull House because she learned to understand that physical beauty wasn’t as important as being a good person.

How have the poets dealt with the themes of compassion and brotherhood in the poems Nine Gold Medals and The Cold Within?
Hunter-Best [27]

Answer:

Explanation:

Nine Gold Medals tells us that helping out others in need is more glorious than winning a mere race. The athletes reminded us that the world now needs more cooperation and collaboration than competition. Developing the feeling of brotherhood among all the people is important for the good of humankind.

The poem the cold within teaches how in today's generation prejudices, malice, biases, discrimination, and racism can destroy human beings and eventually the world. Therefore the title was given to show that the group lacked the "warmth of humanity" in them and hence they died from "The Cold Within".
