There are many different things that did change after the north and south fought. one of the things that did change was the abolition of slavery. but during the end of the war, there was a reconstruction period (1865-1877) which changed a lot of white farmers lives. they had to work on cotton farms to now provide for their family (some labor was sugar farms). the common ground now is having african americans now be equal.
