Answer:

The Roman Empire had become too large to be ruled by one emperor by the third century (this was one of the causes of the Crisis of the Third Century). It was divided, by Emperor Diocletian, into a tetrarchy. This tetrarchy was then dissolved in favor of an Eastern and Western Roman Empire.

Based on the map, why might the Holy Roman Empire have faced challenges in keeping its territory under control?
Alecsey [184]

Answer:

The Holy Roman Empire faced many territorial challenges.

Explanation:

The first challenge was in Italy: the Italian states that were part of the Holy Roman Empire were separated from the German hinterland by the Alps, which imposed a communication barrier that made it very difficult for Emperors to hold control over these lands.

In what is now Germany, there were also territorial issues. The land was divided among countless states: duchies, counties, princedoms, fiefdoms, city-states, and so on, something that made coordination at the imperial level very difficult.

As centuries passed, the Holy Roman Empire lost control over several possessions: it lost most of the Low Countries, and the Italian city-states like the Duchy of Milan and the Republic of Venice became fully independent.

discuss americas mobilization for war and its reliance primarily on voluntary methods rather than government force
Gnom [1K]

The reliance could be seen on how we acquire our military draft.

For example, countries such as Russia and south Korea implemented a mandatory military services for all adult men. (they're require to served at the military for around 1-2 years).

United states on the other hand, does not implement such mandatory military draft. All of our forces were acquired through voluntary methods without government force.

Since the nature of war has changed, voluntary method is more than enough since war that conducted on modern time would most likely relied on mass destruction weapons or advanced vehicles.
