The simple predicate is the word or words that tell us what specific action the subject is taking. The simple predicate is always a verb, or in other words, it's always a word that shows action. In the above example, 'walks' is the verb, or action word, that the boy does.

Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway feels that  Daisy and Gatsby's relation will most certainly end poorly.  Nick believes that the couple's relationship is structured upon illusion, at least on the part of Gatsby.  Nick believes that Gatsby is attempting, through his relationship with Daisy, to relive the past in order to create a new future.  Furthermore, Nick feels that Daisy's affections for Gatsby is owed not to any sort of true, emotional love, but rather an attraction to his wealth.
