Why would the average life span of a child laborer in the city be so much shorter than a rural resident?

Answer:

Well one main reason is that a rural resident was a lot more wealthier so they could by better foods and stay healthier whereas a child laborer lives in poverty only being able to buy the cheaper food. Life expectancy depends somewhat on how healthy a person is and if a child laborer is getting all of the nutrients they need it could probably decrease their life expectancy.

Great Britain is an Island so it can feel relatively safe (see the fate of GB in WW2 as compared to the rest of Europe) and because of this it can afford a more separatist policy. continental Europe however need a closer cooperation between the neighbours, as they share physical land borders, and only peace and a close cooperation can give the feeling of safety (for example to German neighbors, close economic Union is the best defense against a possible attach from Germany).
